DP Dough Fundraiser

We are having an IIDA fundraiser at DP Dough on Tuesday, February 26th from 5-10PM. There is a flier uploaded on the IIDA ISU Facebook Page under the files tab.The flier is labeled as the "Redemption Slip Template".  The flier is what you will use to write your order number and the total of your order!! We will be receiving 10% of sales on all redemption slips so do not forget to fill that out! Feel free to print off more than one flier and distribute them to friends and teachers! If you forget your slip, the cashiers at the registers may have extras but don't plan on it because they may run out!! I hope to see you all there!!

Next Chapter Meeting!! (DATE CHANGED!!)

Our next chapter meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 5th. It will still be at 5:00 in Turner 141. We changed the date because Spring Break is the for week and did not want to interfere with anyone's plans of leaving early for break! So no excuses to miss the meeting! Sarah Kathro will be joining us to talk about Capital Days and why it is important. Sarah is the VP of Government and Regulatory Affairs of the IIDA Illinois Chapter and works at Farnsworth Group. Lindsey Jungk will also be providing more information about joining our Relay for Life team.

What is Capital Days and why should you care?

Capital Days is a day where Interior Designers and supporters of the profession meet in Springfield and lobby our legislators. Lobbying is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in the Government. This is a chance for you to see the legislative process and to talk to your Senate Representative or State Senator about important bills that effect you as an Interior Designer. 

Some of those bills that effect you are The Illinois Interior Design Practice Act and the Sunset Extension of the Illinois Interior Design Title Act. The Illinois Interior Design Practice Act allows Registered Interior Designers the opportunity to enhance their capabilities of the profession into realms that have been previously restricted by other regulated professions. This bill will allow registered designers the capability to stamp and seal technical submissions instead of needing it to be reviewed and stamped by an architect in order to have the submission approved for permit.The Sunset Extension of the Illinois Interior Design Title Act is our current law that helps Registered Interior Designers distinguish themselves from others based on education, experience and examination. This Act must undergo examination every 10 years to see if it is viable to keep. Without support it is possible for the title act to be thrown out.

If you are passionate about the design profession and make sure that there is a good future for designers then this is a meeting you should not miss!

What is Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.The money raised goes to cancer research and cancer patients.

First Chapter Meeting Of The Semester!!!

Our first chapter meeting of the semester is on Thursday, Feburary 7, 2013.  How exciting!? We will meet in our usual place, Turner 141 at 5:00pm. There is a lot of information to get out to everyone about events and other things, so make sure you are there!

Business Furniture Steelcase Showroom Tour!

We have out first event of the semester!! Is Everyone excited!?

We will be touring the Business Furniture Steelcase Showroom in Bloomington on Monday, February 4, 2013. The tour will begin at 5:00 and should only last until about 6:30. Come hungry, because they will be serving us dinner! Unfortunately we do not have a bus, so getting to the showroom is up to you. Check out the event page on the IIDA ISU Facebook to see if anyone can give you a ride if you need one! The Showroom is located at 205 N Main street in downtown Bloomington.

The showroom displays flexible work spaces designed to enhance collaboration and productivity, while showcasing the latest in digital technology from Steelcase that are available through Business Furniture.

This is a great opportunity for design students! We get to see the latest and greatest products that are made for offices. I visited the Steelcase showroom at the Merchandise Mart and was blow away with the things that they are creating! Hope to see you all there!!

Coffee Hound Fundraiser!!

We're going to start our Coffee Hound fundraiser!!  We will be selling through Sunday November 25th.  Order sheets need to be in Turner 141 in the  Black Box by Tuesday November 27th.  We've strategically planned these sell dates to be the week before and the week of Thanksgiving break, so that you all have a chance to sell here in town as well as to your families, neighbors, etc. over break, and the bags of coffee will be available for pick-up during finals week (if that does not work for you, please let us know closer to the date) so that you can deliver them to those here in town, as well as at home over Winter break.

If anyone has missed the basic concept of this, it will be you asking your friends, family, neighbors, etc., to buy bags of Coffee Hound coffee (whole beans or ground... 3 different flavors) from you for $14, so that your club can get $5 per bag to put toward things like food at meetings and transportation for trips. We have a goal of at least 3 bags sold per club member, but don't let that stop you! SELL SELL SELL!

Sell sheets were e-mailed out to all members, but there are also some available to pick up in Turner 141!
